Good evening guys!
So, today’s post is a Q+A with Sara Pags. I have asked her ten questions about blogging that she has kindly answered. Sara is a good friend of mine and is a blogger based in Milan, Italy. I will put the link to her blog at the end of this post. So let’s get started….
1. How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for a bit more than three years now, but it feels like only yesterday I wrote my first post. I remember being so excited and scared before hitting the publish button, but I’m still so glad I did it. Of course, nothing is always peaches and cream, yet I don’t regret anything.
2. What made you want to be a blogger?
I’ve always been a creative kid, but all the choices I made school wise excluded creativity from my everyday life. I wanted to aim high, and I soon discovered the price to pay was leaving my artsy side apart. Then I discovered blogging and I thought I could use it to express that part of myself that school didn’t need. It was also the first time I actually felt rewarded for doing sone thing that didn’t concern any calculus or Latin (yes, I do study Latin). Another reason why I started blogging though, was to challenge my self. I’d just got out of that terrible stage of life that is puberty and I wanted to finally feel like a girl, to have good taste in clothing and to share my make up addiction. Now it’s much more than that, I still love fashion and beauty but they’re not my priority anymore. I love travelling and having new experiences and that’s what my blog reflects right now.
3. What is the name of your blog?
My blogs name is “Sara Pags”. It looks like my real name but no, Pags is the English-like abbreviation of my Italian surname, Paganuzzi, which doesn’t sound very nice to me. Actually, I chose this name not only because I don’t particularly like my surname, but also because I wanted to feel a bit more international.
4. How frequently to you post on your blog?
I must admit, I don’t have a fixed schedule, I try to post once a week or whenever I get some inspiration. I know it’s not best for my blog, but I prefer to keep it simple and true, posting when I feel the urge to. That’s the only way I know I really like my content. However, id love to post more, but I don’t really have much time for that. Blogging is like a second job and with school killing me like this, I can’t keep up. School in Italy usually requires a lot of home study, but that’s a whole other story.
5. What do you write about mainly in your blog posts?
I don’t really like labelling my blog as a beauty, fashion or travel blog. I write about whatever crosses my mind ( and my camera ) so yeah, I guess I write about all three topics but I can still cover home decor or cooking depending on what I feel like doing and writing about.
6. What is the best blog post you have written in your opinion?
I guess I don’t really have a favourite blog post, although I really like going through my photo diaries from my travels since they bring back so many nice memories in particular, i love the pictures I took in Venice ( http://www.sarapags.eu/2016/05/venice-in-2-days.html?m=1), Ireland ( http://www.sarapags.eu/2015/07/ireland-photo-diary-2.html?m=1) and Australia (http://www.sarapags.eu/2017/03/3-days-in-kangaroo-island.html?m=1). Travelling is one of my favourite activities and combined with photography I guess it creates really nice posts.
7. If you could give advice to beginner bloggers, what would it be?
Dear newbies, never lose focus of who you are and what you like. Never feel like you should post something just because it’s the latest trend. I used to be so stressed about being up to date with the new make up launches that I forgot blogging was supposed to be about my daily life, not my pocket money. I prefer sharing my thoughts now, rather than showing what I bought. Of course I still like beauty and fashion and I still go shopping, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use my all time favourites in a make up tutorial or a seasonal outfit.
8. What are you hoping to achieve with your blog?
My blog is are out sharing my creative side and feeling rewarded, and school being a massive part of my life I don’t have that much time to spend on achieving blog goals. However, I hope one day in the future I can turn it into a job or a second job, something I would wake up to and be excited to work on. Doing a job you love is probably tbe biggest dream I have, and I know for sure blogging would pretty much be something like that. Doesn’t sound bad. However, I know it’s hard work and if I really want this to become my future I need to be more determined than ever.
9. Who are your favourite bloggers of all time?
Needless to say, I found my main inspiration reading zoellas blog (www.zoella.co.uk), as probably most of you did, and I still love it although sometimes I feel like she kind of blended in with all of those new glossy blogs that are adorable but pretty empty on the inside. Another blogger I like is Ella from Ellawashere.com, a Belgium blogger I admire for her authenticity and determination. I also like Meg from wonderful you (www.wonderful-you.com) and her motivational posts.
10. Do you prefer writing blogs or videoing vlogs?
I don’t really want to choose to be honest :- I love blogging because it’s quick and I can really translate my thoughts into words, which becomes a bit more difficult when vlogging since I’m not a native English speaker. However, I love youtube because it’s even more interactive. To be honest, I hate my voice on camera (I mean, who doesnt) but I love watching back at my footage from Australia ( I still have other videos to upload) and hearing my friends’ voices once again.
